THEME:
ENHANCING GOVERNANCE AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION IN TIMES OF POLYCRISES THROUGH COLLABORATION, POLICY, EVIDENCE, TECHNOLOGY (AI) AND INNOVATION FOR SERVICE DELIVERY
Public administration is the cornerstone of societal functionality, responsible for overseeing critical aspects such as economic management and socio-economic transformation. The safety, welfare, and prosperity of citizens and private enterprises depend on agile, resilient, responsive, effective, and efficient public administration. It is the key driver for national prosperity. The role of public administration has become even more important in the context of achieving the sustainable development goals. The mandates of the SDGs highlight the need to revamp the capacity of the public service in scope, importance and urgency. Also, in the face of transnational challenges, the role of public administration in ensuring national resilience and sustained well-being becomes even more critical. These challenges necessitate concerted efforts to foster dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among stakeholders in public affairs.
National schools of government and management development institutes are pivotal in developing public servants, creating effective administrations, and building strong, capable institutions. The African Management Development Institutes’ Network (AMDIN) is a leading professional Association dedicated to public sector capacity building in Africa. Established to optimise the functioning of capacity development organisations in the African public sector, AMDIN facilitates resource sharing and collaboration across institutions. AMDIN is committed to promoting continental and global knowledge exchanges to build capable administrations and strong institutions vital for national development. To further these objectives, AMDIN proposed establishing and hosting an annual African Conference of Public Affairs and Development (ACPAD). This conference aims to facilitate engagement within the global knowledge exchange network through mutually beneficial partnerships with institutions across Africa and worldwide.
GIMPA, as a key member of the AMDIN, has the privilege to host the first annual AMDIN conference in April 28 – 30, 2025.
